2012: Larry Pratt Warns Obama Could Use Dictatorial Executive Orders
“But what I do see is more below the radar, perhaps through executive order, telling gun stores not to sell guns that are perfectly legal to sell,” Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America said in this 11/27/12 story from worldnetdaily.com.
He foresees the possibility of executive orders by Obama that would bar the sale of any handgun over the caliber of .380 and any long gun that can accept a high capacity magazine.
OVERVIEW OF THE CAMPAIGN
President Barack Obama, feeling emboldened after his reelection victory, and willing to exploit recent mass shootings in Colorado and Wisconsin, is working with democrats in Congress to make the nightmare gun ban – first passed in the Clinton-era banning certain semi-automatic firearms — a reality.
The President not only wants to reinstate the ban on semi-automatics but expand it to include handguns and make it permanent. WGO is concerned with the broader threat by democrats but also the possibility that many of the republicans will be willing to accept a compromise. Our plan is to stop them on both fronts by mobilizing gun owners statewide to lobby Wisconsin’s congressional delegation – both parties if necessary — to oppose the ban in any form it may be proposed.
Pressure Senators Baldwin and Johnson – and our reps – to oppose this ban by applied grassroots lobbying.
WGO can concentrate on pulling Wisconsin to the right side of this issue. As a state-based gun lobby, we are uniquely positioned to organize at the local level. Donations will be used to wage a campaign of concentrated fire right here in Wisconsin, including:
- Petition and postcard drive
- E-mail/online petition program
The members and supporters of Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc. (WGO) were integral in opposing and defeating the latest attempts to resurrect the so-called “assault weapons” ban (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008), working at the state level and alongside a national coalition of other state-level and national pro-gun organizations. Members’ past donations provided the resources to win. Your contribution today will give us the ammo to stop this ban again.
Substantial financial support to operate all phases of this campaign, from mail and phone banks to on-the-ground volunteer coordination.
Please consider chipping in $10, $25, $50 or more to this pro-gun fight.
Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc. is a 501(c)4 non-profit, registered charitable organization with the State of Wisconsin. Donations made to Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc. are not deductible for income tax purposes. Thank you!
