WGO Comments on Rittenhouse Verdict

Kyle Rittenhouse Cleans Graffiti in Kenosha, WI

Friday, November 19, 2021, a jury handed down a verdict of not guilty on all charges in the Rittenhouse case, signifying a massive win for self-defense, gun rights and property rights in Wisconsin.

“Since seeing the video back in August, WGO has been convinced of Mr. Rittenhouse’s innocence, and we see this as more proof that WGO is on the right track,” said Thomas Leager, executive director of Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc.

Since the beginning of the year, WGO has been working with state legislators, pushing for laws
strengthening self-defense — part of what WGO calls the “Wisconsin Self-Defense and Firearms

Freedom Act,” which includes Stand Your Ground legislation.

WGO has been one of the leading voices in the fight to strengthen self-defense rights in Wisconsin.

“Protecting self-defense is part of protecting the Second Amendment, but many legislators are
too scared to take a stand when it comes to this sensitive issue. It is just a shame that we had to
put an upstanding young man like Kyle through this ordeal before acknowledging the progress
we need to make on self-defense law in the State of Wisconsin. I hope legislators are more willing to help now that this case is over,” Leager concluded.

WGO works for grassroots gun owners, not politicians. While many gun lobbies fight for “reasonable gun control,” WGO sets a higher standard: We oppose all gun control — regardless of the political party — and work tirelessly to restore the Second Amendment. WGO has angered many politicians who would like people to believe that they support gun rights — even when they vote against them. Click here
