Dear Assembly Speaker Robin Vos,
My name is Thomas Leager, and I am the Executive Director of Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc (WGO). I’m contacting you via mail as I have called and tried to visit your office several times with no success. For reasons that are unclear to the gun owners of this state, you’ve chosen not to return my calls.
Regarding the current session’s Constitutional Carry Bill (AB669/SB619), we would like to know:
Why, while you were assembly speaker from 2016 to 2018 and held a Republican supermajority with the State Senate and Governor Scott Walker, was LRB2039/1 (2016 Constitutional Carry) not given a bill number or scheduled for a recorded floor vote?
As I’m sure you can understand, pro-gun activists in Wisconsin would like to know why we are in the position today of having to fight an uphill battle vis-à-vis veto override in 2022, when state Republicans could have easily passed Constitutional Carry (and every other pro-2A bill currently in the legislature) into law during the 2016-2018 session, while you presided as Assembly Speaker.
