WGO Calls On Pro-Gun Politicians To Take A Stand And Demand Veto Override Votes During Review Period

WGO Demands Veto Override Votes During Review Period

The legislative session concludes — for all intents and purposes — after May 18, and gun owners have one last chance to force a veto override vote and influence enough legislators to achieve a veto-proof majority. 

WGO is planning an offensive push to review and pass all pro-2A legislation that has received a gubernatorial veto during the regular session.  

 How will we do this? 

  1. Pressure legislators to override Governor Evers’ vetoes of pro-2A legislation.  
  2. Force a bipartisan supermajority via the above grassroots campaign. 
  3. Deploy 2A petitions to state legislative leadership. 
  4. Take names and hold these politicians accountable. 

How does the Veto Review Floor Period work? 

Under Joint Rule 82 (1m), a veto review floor period can be scheduled between April 1 and June 30 of an even-numbered year. 

During this period, the legislature can take action on partial and full gubernatorial vetoes.

Wisconsin has a real shot at getting these bills into the law books by putting pressure on politicians before one of the most critical mid-terms in recent political history.  

And if they will not vote to override the veto, we can show Wisconsinites who supports their Second Amendment rights and who does not.   

So, what can you do right now?

P.S. This will be the last chance for gun owners to get the above pro-gun bills passed into law, this legislative session. It is important to send a message to those opposed to our gun rights, and let them know that gun owners will not be dissuaded from doing everything in their power to secure gun rights in Wisconsin. Many times, politicians hope that constituents are not informed about the legislative process, and therefore they only have to do the bare minimum.  Please click here, and contact your legislators and tell them to vote to overturn the vetoes of these bills. This session shouldn’t end without a clear referendum on who supports gun rights and who does not.

I am a resident of Wisconsin and live in your district. I am a gun owner and member of Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc (WGO).  

WGO has informed me that the 2022 veto review floor period is scheduled for May 17th and 18th.  

It could not come too soon, as the ATF and the federal government have been behaving belligerently.  The BATFE is exercising powers to change definitions of words within already passed legislation, such as the National Firearms Act and Gun Control Act, increasing their scope and purview beyond that which is constitutional.  

The BATFE sidesteps the legislature and changes already passed laws. It is actively consolidating legislative power to itself, an executive agency.    

These actions are alarming to all lawful gun owners across the country, including myself.   

Also, I favor strengthening gun rights in Wisconsin, as a whole, alongside having state-level protections from the current hostility of the Federal government.  

As a resident of Wisconsin, I am requesting that you do everything within your power to protect gun owners and expand gun rights in Wisconsin.
