WGO to fight Obama's semi-auto ban

2009: White House Plans Revealed to Reinstate and Make Permanent the Semi-Auto Ban

President Obama and Vice-President Biden, “support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent,” the White House website declares. Shortly after taking office, members of the Obama cabinet added their voices of agreement.-

2009: Attorney General Eric Holder Confirms Plans

“…As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons. I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum.” – Attorney General Eric Holder February 26, 2009

2012 Election Campaign: Obama States Intentions

“…what I’m trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced.” – President Barack Obama Debate 2, Oct. 16, 2012

2012: Sen. Feinstein Reported to Be Moving on Bill

“I just heard that Sen. Feinstein’s attorney is meeting right now with folks from FTB and ATF legal (Eric Epstein [legal], Todd Martin [Legal] and Earl Griffith [FTB] and others) to discuss a new SAW ban, that she would want to start pushing through as soon as (if) Obama gets reelected.

  • No pistol grip allowed
  • No HC Mags
  • No grandfathering
  • No sale permissible if in possession”

– Email from a source purported to be forwarded from Lawrence G. Keane, Senior Vice President, Assistant Secretary and General Counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, as reported by David Codrea, Gun Rights Examiner

2012: Larry Pratt Warns Obama Could Use Dictatorial Executive Orders

“But what I do see is more below the radar, perhaps through executive order, telling gun stores not to sell guns that are perfectly legal to sell,” Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America said in this 11/27/12 story from

He foresees the possibility of executive orders by Obama that would bar the sale of any handgun over the caliber of .380 and any long gun that can accept a high capacity magazine.

President Barack Obama, feeling emboldened after his reelection victory, and willing to exploit recent mass shootings in Colorado and Wisconsin, is working with democrats in Congress to make the nightmare gun ban – first passed in the Clinton-era banning certain semi-automatic firearms — a reality.

The President not only wants to reinstate the ban on semi-automatics but expand it to include handguns and make it permanent. WGO is concerned with the broader threat by democrats but also the possibility that many of the republicans will be willing to accept a compromise. Our plan is to stop them on both fronts by mobilizing gun owners statewide to lobby Wisconsin’s congressional delegation – both parties if necessary — to oppose the ban in any form it may be proposed.

Pressure Senators Baldwin and Johnson – and our reps – to oppose this ban by applied grassroots lobbying.

WGO can concentrate on pulling Wisconsin to the right side of this issue. As a state-based gun lobby, we are uniquely positioned to organize at the local level. Donations will be used to wage a campaign of concentrated fire right here in Wisconsin, including:

  • Petition and postcard drive
  • E-mail/online petition program
  • Media

The members and supporters of Wisconsin Gun Owners, Inc. (WGO) were integral in opposing and defeating the latest attempts to resurrect the so-called “assault weapons” ban (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008), working at the state level and alongside a national coalition of other state-level and national pro-gun organizations. Members’ past donations provided the resources to win. Your contribution today will give us the ammo to stop this ban again.

Substantial financial support to operate all phases of this campaign, from mail and phone banks to on-the-ground volunteer coordination.

Please consider chipping in $10, $25, $50 or more to this pro-gun fight.

Maybe the State of Wisconsin could pass a law that stops the gun grabbing feds. Wyoming and Montana are already started to pass such a law.
