Wisconsin Gun Control Bills Introduced: Domestic Gun Ban, Handgun Waiting Period
Two Wisconsin gun control bills have been introduced in Madison.
State democrats — with the help of Governor Tony Evers — have been hard at work crafting Wisconsin gun control bills to ram down Wisconsinsites’ throats.
The first bill is SB312, state democrats’ latest attempt to reenact the waiting period on handguns in Wisconsin.
The next bill, AB334, is a real nightmare. If passed, it would disarm you if convicted in Wisconsin of a “misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.”
Federal law (the infamous Lautenberg amendment) already prohibits gun ownership for people convicted of these crimes of convenience (convenient for the gun banners).
AB334 would be like a “Baby Lautenberg” state-level gun control act and would place the bar for disarmament ridiculously low here in the Badger State.
How low?
Consider just how easy it is for a disgruntled family member (with the help of an anti-gun district attorney) to trump up false charges against you of “raising your voice” and “threatening” someone …
… It could be a family friend, an ex-wife, an ex-girlfriend … anyone making these phone accusations …
These bogus charges — even with no evidence to back them up — often bring GUILTY verdicts against gun owners.
The WGO office fields at least one phone call per month from men all around Wisconsin who have been falsely convicted of these so-called “domestic abuse” misdemeanors and have been barred for life from owning firearms.
The FBI’s Uniform Crime Report and analyses by reputed criminologists prove that domestic violence gun control schemes do nothing to prevent ACTUAL domestic violence.
So what’s this really about?
Simple: AB334 is nothing but another method to disarm gun owners and attack Wisconsin’s gun culture.
The real question is, what are we going to do about it?
For starters, WGO has registered its opposition to these two bills (we’re the only pro-gun organization opposing the legislation as of this writing).
