Online Petition Against the Semi-Auto Ban 2022

WHEREAS, the Second Amendment protects all arms, not just ones with certain action types;

WHEREAS, the original so-called “Assault Weapons Ban” did nothing to reduce crime or criminals’ access to semi-autos;

WHEREAS, there are millions of semi-auto firearms, including AR-15s, in the hands of law-abiding Americans for target shooting, competition, home defense, and hunting, and these firearms have hurt no one;

WHEREAS, the Supreme Court decision in NYSRPA v Bruen specifically designates such a ban as Unconstitutional;

WHEREAS, the Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms has nothing to do with guns being used for hunting, and everything to do with a check and balance against government overreach;

WHEREAS, the Left has said it wants to promote unity and healing in the U.S. while H.R. 1808 and S.736, the so-called “Assault Weapons Ban of 2022,” foments more division in the country and further divides us unnecessarily;

THEREFORE, I urge you to OPPOSE the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022 and any attempt to ban semi-automatic rifles, shotguns or handguns. The Second Amendment enumerates an inalienable right to keep and bear ALL arms, which are not to be infringed. Semi-automatic firearms are owned and cherished by Wisconsin gun owners and sportsmen.
