After a year of government permission carry, it’s time to pass Constitutional Carry in Wisconsin
The time has come to fully restore Constitutional Carry in Wisconsin.
That’s why we’re leading a unified effort with other liberty-minded groups around the state to begin a grassroots push for Constitutional Carry … right now.
What is Constitutional Carry? That’s simple: It’s the unrestricted right to exercise your right to bear arms without any government permission slip.
It’s a right, not a privilege.
Why not just be content with Wisconsin’s current concealed weapons law?
For starters, anti-gun police bureaucrats have much reason to celebrate our permit-to-carry law.
That’s because it creates a statewide registration list of those who apply for a license to carry a handgun.
That list is maintained by the Department of Justice (DOJ) — an agency that exists to investigate and prosecute criminals.
But the real question isn’t whether creating a government watchlist of gun owners is a bad idea. It’s always a bad idea.
Case in point: This week’s revelation of unwarranted NSA spying on American citizens.
Wisconsin Group to Upgrade Wisconsin’s Concealed Carry Law
It’s bad enough that the DOJ is denying people permits based on very shaky pretenses right now.
What’s worse, gun owner registration always leads to more serious abuses of power, including gun confiscation.
As things sit right now, to get your carry permit, the current law requires you to undergo yet another offensive guilty-until-proven innocent background check.
We’re not here to dissuade you from getting a permit. In fact, the manner in which you choose to arm yourself is your business and your decision alone.
In fact, that’s why the Constitutional Carry bill we’re working on will still allow you to get a permit if you want one.
Just like Alaska’s law, you’ll be able to get a concealed weapons permit if you want reciprocity with other states…but it wouldn’t be required for carrying here in Wisconsin.
So, if you’re a Wisconsin resident, and don’t want to be on a government watchlist simply for exercising your right to carry, then you’ll have the option to do just that without any government permission slip.
Think about it. You wouldn’t accept a Big Brother “Please-May-I?” permit system to exercise your freedom of speech, or religion. And you sure shouldn’t accept one to exercise your right to bear arms, either.
The most important thing is to continue the fight to pass Constitutional Carry in Wisconsin.
Now that we’ve passed permit-to-carry, we have the momentum needed to move Wisconsin to Constitutional Carry.
But will you join us in this fight?
At least one key legislator thinks now is the right time to introduce this bill.
But he needs you to contact your legislators and tell them to begin working on improving Wisconsin’s concealed weapons law by supporting Constitutional Carry.
Simply tell your state representative and state senator to work on legislation creating a Constitutional Carry system where you have the option to get a permit for reciprocity, but you’re not required to.
- Sign the Online Petition for Constitutional Carry. It only takes a second and is a key part of our strategy.

We’re already hearing all the compromisers whining, telling us to shut up and “go away, we just gave you your carry bill” just as we predicted they would.
Sadly, many will listen to them.
But not you. And not thousands of activists all across Wisconsin who are angry the big-government neoconservatives of the republican party threw in the towel before the anti-gunners even lifted a finger.
Make no mistake: The anti-gunners never had a chance to oppose Constitutional Carry … because the anti-gun republicans did all their work for them.
Constitutional Concealed Carry was killed by state republicans … not by anti-gunners.
So we challenge you to join with WGO to demand state legislators keep their promise and keep moving toward Constitutional Carry.
We truly believe we will succeed in moving from a permit-to-carry system in Wisconsin to a system dictated by principles of freedom.
But after many months of fighting, our resources here at WGO are nearly sapped.
And with all these long days and hard work, we haven’t had a chance to slow down and raise the funds needed to continue a long-term campaign.
That means our operation will come to a screeching halt soon if we don’t get some help and get it fast.
That’s why we’re asking you to please make an online contribution to WGO letting us know how you can help replenish our coffers for this critical phase.
We really could use the help right now.
Together we will ensure that Constitutional Concealed Carry is passed in Wisconsin.
Remember, Constitutional Carry was pushed by the grassroots – by members of WGO and Wisconsin Campaign for Liberty – further than anyone thought possible.
Even the institutional gun lobby was forced to give lip service to it.
The challenge before us now is to ensure the promise of state republicans and so-called pro-gun lobbyists isn’t allowed to slip quietly away in the night.
Please chip in with a generous contribution of $10 or $20 to help us replenish our coffers for this Constitutional Concealed Carry fight.
